This bacon wrapped chicken is chicken breasts seasoned with brown sugar and spices, then wrapped in bacon and baked until caramelized. An easy chicken dinner with only 10 minutes of prep time.

Bacon wrapped chicken breast looks so impressive, but requires very little effort. It’s great for a casual family dinner, yet looks fancy enough for company. It’s one of my favorite chicken dishes along with chicken adobo and rosemary chicken.

Bacon wrapped chicken breast with sauce in a skillet.

I have a household full of bacon and chicken lovers. We eat chicken dinners often and this  chicken is one of our favorite dishes to have in the dinner rotation. It only takes minutes to prep, then simply bake your chicken to crispy golden brown perfection and enjoy!

This chicken goes great with sides like crispy brussels sprouts, smashed potatoes and honey glazed carrots. Add a couple of sides and make a great meal!

HOW DO YOU MAKE BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN?

The best part of this baked bacon wrapped chicken is the seasoning. Brown sugar and a variety of spices are mixed together in a bowl and rubbed on the chicken before it’s wrapped in bacon and baked in the oven. It’s an extremely fast dinner to prepare and it will be eaten just as quickly.

Any type of chicken is fine for this recipe, such as thighs or drumsticks instead of breasts. It’s important to note that no matter the chicken you choose, be sure that each piece is roughly the same size so it will cook evenly. You’ll want to avoid using a thick cut bacon for this recipe as it will take much longer to cook.

If you like your bacon crispy like I do, it’s fine to broil your chicken for about 2-3 minutes at the end of the cooking time. Watch closely though; the sauce has sugar in it and will burn quickly if left to broil for too long. It’s worth the extra effort since the crispy bacon, in my opinion, adds the perfect texture to the dish.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN CHICKEN IS DONE?

The best way to tell if you chicken is cooked is by slicing it open. If it’s white all the way to the middle, then it’s done. However, if you don’t want to slice into your chicken before you serve it, a meat thermometer comes in quite handy. Stick the thermometer through the middle of the chicken, stopping about midway through. The safe temperature you’re looking for is at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit or 75 degrees Celsius.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COOK BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN?

This chicken recipe calls for up to 30 minutes of baking time. Since all ovens aren’t created equally, the times for baking can vary greatly. Some wrapped chicken recipes can take as long as 40 minutes to bake. It also depends on the thickness of your chicken breasts. Larger, thicker breasts will take longer to cook. This recipe assumes an average sized chicken breast of 4-5 ounces.

We love to serve our bacon wrapped chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. However, it goes great with a lot of other side options.

made this for my residents and fellow staff at a nursing home I work in. We didnt have everything we needed for the meal we had planned and so I needed to come up with something on the fly and within the hour. i remember that this time of year is when my dad makes bacon wrapped chicken.I found this recipe and everyone, even my picky eaters loved it!!! We have all agreed that this is going into the extra recipe book for the house. I trippled this recipe.

  2. I made this with a mozza cheese stick in the middle It was great. I also cooked a batch and froze it cooked for a freezer meal exchange group I am in. Then everyone just had to warm it – either in oven or microwave. I also took a cooked frozen batch camping and just thawed it there and warmed it in a foil pan on the bbq. Everyone loved it and was asking for the recipe.

Thank you for sharing! I only had chicken thighs so I used that. Used half the paprika because not everyone in the house can handle extra spice. This recipe is good! Something I’m definitely adding to my book!

I made this but left out the brown sugar and it was still good. I only had two large chicken breasts so I cut them in half and cooked for around 20 mins but checked with a meat thermometer to make sure they were done.

Seriously some of the best chicken I have had! Super easy to make and so juicy! Recommend broiling the chicken for 3 to 4 minutes to get the bacon crispy at the end.

I used a pan with a baking grate. This enabled the bacon to dry and not get soaked in the drippings. All in all it came out the way I wanted it to. I will happily make this again and possibly try a little broil at the end. Make this recipe!

Very tasty and moist even without basting. I used the smoked paprika which provided a lovely smokey flavor. I only had thick cut bacon. So, I pre baked the bacon on a sheet pan for 20 minutes then layed it on top of the chicken. Didn’t want soggy bacon on the bottom. Used the bacon sheet pan to roast vegetables with equal parts smoked paprika, onion powder and garlic powder. Made for very easy clean up. Just 2 sheet pans.

This is great. Only thing I changed the second time I made it was to just cut the bacon in strips and layer over the top. If you wrap chicken, the bottom bacon won’t get crispy even using broiler. I know it’s cooked on bottom, but it looks raw. Since there’s plenty of grease the chicken is sitting in as it cooks, there’s no need for bacon underneath. Thick bacon works just fine.

This is so easy to make and tastes amazing. My boyfriend loves it. I served it with stuffing and baked beans. A big hit at my house! Will definitely make this again. Thanks for sharing.

Made the recipe as described, cutting in half for only one chicken breast. Absolutely delicious, will definitely make again!

  11. Could the chicken be cut into bite sized pieces first then follow the rest of the recipe? I would like to serve as an appetizer. What about the oven temperature & cooking time?

      1. I have done bacon wrapped chicken appetizers. Wrap half a piece of bacon around half of a tenderloin, holding bacon on with toothpick and then coat with brown sugar/chili powder mix. Serve with honey mustard.

I’ve never posted a comment on a recipe webpage before, but had to for this one. I’m so glad to have come across this recipe, it was a BIG hit with hubby and my two teen boys! Made it exactly as written (just added 5 minutes resting time afterwards). On the side was baby potatoes and steamed veggies. Chicken was juicy, and very flavorful. This recipe is a keeper, and an easy dish that’s sophisticated enough for guests. Thank you for sharing, it’s a keeper!

  15. I’m making this tonight for dinner and I’m putting baby red potatoes and baby carrots on the same baking pan . I think it’s going to be really good. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
