For the first time ever, my twins are off to full day school! I’m already brainstorming fun school lunch ideas, but equally important are the after school snacks. I know my girls will come home hungry and I’m getting prepared with snack options to keep them fueled all afternoon long. My kids absolutely love fruit, so these apple nachos are a perfect choice for a fun yet easy snack. Apple slices will never be boring again! If you’re looking for other ways to showcase apples, you have to also try my amazing snicker apple salad.

I also love to make savory after school snacks like my homemade Chex mix, pigs in a blanket and turkey roll ups. If you are looking for more snack ideas check out my list of amazing after school snacks!

How Do You Make Apple Nachos?

This recipe starts with apples. I use a combination of red Gala and green Granny Smith apples for fun, but feel free to use whatever variety of apple your children like best. The apples get thinly sliced and arranged on a plate. After that comes the fun part – the toppings! I used a combination of caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, sprinkles and miniature chocolate chips here. Other great options are melted peanut butter, miniature marshmallows, toffee bits, chopped nuts, white chocolate, the possibilities are endless!

A plate of red and green sliced apples drizzled with caramel and chocolate, then topped with rainbow sprinkles and chocolate chips.

After you’ve topped your apples, put the plate on the table and let the kids eat them the same way you’d eat nachos! It’s so much more fun than just handing your children an apple, and it really only takes a few extra minutes to make. These apple nachos are a great way to jazz up back to school snacking for all ages. They’ve even fun for birthday parties or classroom events! Regardless of how you serve these apple nachos, you’ll be sure to have happy kids (and adults love ’em too!).

I eat these as an adult! Drizzled peanut butter and chocolate sauce are two of my favorite ways to make apples dessert. Love this for kids too!
