When the holidays roll around I’m always looking for new fun and festive treats to add into my baking rotation. These Oreo balls only contain 4 ingredients, are great to make with the kids, and taste as good as they look.

How do you make Oreo balls?

The first step is to make your filling, which consists of a package of Oreo cookies ground into crumbs and a brick of cream cheese. The two ingredients get mixed together to form a rich and fudgy filling. Chill your balls, then dip them in chocolate and decorate the tops.

The great thing about Oreo truffles is that you can customize them in so many different ways. You can use any flavor of Oreo you like. I typically do regular Oreos and golden Oreos for variety. You can also dip them in whatever chocolate flavor you like, or use colored candy melts to get your desired look.

Tips for Oreo Balls

  • You can use chocolate chips or candy melts to dip your balls in. I highly recommend using Ghirardelli Melting Wafers which can be found in the baking aisle of most grocery stores. They melt smooth and thin and are so easy to work with, but they taste like real chocolate. If you opt for chocolate chips, you’ll need to add a bit of shortening to thin out your chocolate to make it more suitable for dipping.
  • You can make the Oreo truffle centers up to a day in advance. Cover them loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you’re ready to dip them in chocolate.
  • I like to decorate my Oreo balls with colorful sprinkles. Other great options are more cookie crumbs, toffee bits, chopped nuts or coconut.

How long will Oreo cookie balls keep?

Oreo balls will keep for up to 2 weeks in the fridge, or up to 2 months in the freezer. Store your balls in an airtight container.

How do you dip Oreo balls?

The easiest way to dip an Oreo ball is to place it on a fork and spoon your chocolate over the top until it’s completely covered. You’ll want to gently tap the fork against the side of the bowl so that the excess chocolate can drip off. Gently transfer each dipped ball to parchment paper to dry. Add your sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet.

Oreo truffles are the perfect bite sized dessert for a crowd, and I love that they can be made ahead of time so that you’re not scrambling the day of the party trying to get everything done. They’re rich, fudgy and full of chocolate flavor. If you love Oreo cookies, you’ll adore these treats.
